McAirlaid’s answer, YES with SuperCore. We deliberately left out latex, adhesives and bonding agents. Guess what? SuperCore still absorbs significantly more fluid compared to other airlaids. Bonus, SuperCore is available exclusively at McAirlaid’s.
Pure cellulose fibers are placed on top of each other with the help of air streams. They are compacted by means of a patented production process, which works without adhesives or bonding agents.
This is what makes SuperCore different. The base of all our airlaids consist of 100% virgin (elementary) chlorine free pulp and contains NO recycled materials. We achieve a wide range of absorption without barrier adhesives.
With other airlaids fluid often runs through the lattice like construction. Due to our purely thermo-mechanical fiber bonding process, SuperCore fluid stays where it is suppose to, inside the core.
Pure cellulose can absorb liquid its own weight many times over but sometimes even greater absorption is required. This is when we upgrade the absorption power of our products with superabsorbers. Superabsorbers can absorb 100 times more than pure cellulose because the liquids are immediately absorbed then turned into gel. This is how we ensure a “dry” surface. Once locked-in, liquid is stored by SuperCore as if in a safe, even when under pressure. This is why McAirlaid’s SuperCore is unique and our core idea.
In this process, polymer granules are melted and molten polymer is extruded through spinnerets. The continuous filaments are cooled and deposited on a conveyor belt to form a uniform web. A certain residual temperature can cause filaments to adhere to each other, but this cannot be considered the most important method of joining. The spunbonded process has the advantage of giving the nonwovens a higher strength, but raw material flexibility is limited.
Conventional airlaids consist of cellulose and bonding agents. Processing does not take place as usual for the production of paper in water, but dry in a so-called compressed air procedure. Therefore the term “airlaid”. The properties of airlaid: less fluff, tear proof, extremely absorbent, kind to skin and pleasantly soft.
Wetlaid is a process whereby fibers are suspended in water to distribute them evenly. The suspension is poured onto a moving sieve that allows the water to go through, leaving a fiber fleece behind, which is dried afterwards to form the fabric.
To ensure the quality of our product, McAirlaid's is proud to hold the multiple international third-party certifications. Our commitment to the environment includes low CO2 in the production of our products. We also use no fresh water, creating no effluent from production. SuperCore is produced with chlorine and bleach free cellulose. This how we support our commitment to continuous quality improvement and the environment.
PEFC is an international, non-profit, non-governmental organization which promotes sustainable forest management through independent third party certification.
Depending on the most diverse requirement profiles, the following raw materials flow into the production process.
Granulates consist of dry and solid grains, which are used for example as SAP, odor binders or as other powder substances.
Staple fibers can be used as super absorbent fibers (SAF), bi-component and mono-filament fibers.
Set your imagination free and we will translate it with two possible airlaid structures.
From top to bottom: PE Film | SAF | Pulp | PE Film
From top to bottom: Nonwoven | Cellulose | Silver Ions | Cotton
We will convert our airlaid into diverse array of products, cut and packaged to your specifications. Saving you time, cost and waste.
