McAirlaid‘s FreshGuard EC makes it simple. It works positively in a manifold way in MAP trays, disposable trays and flowpacks. It prevents the early ripening of fruit. It improves the quality and fresh appearance of foodstuffs. It minimises drying out and with this - loss of weight. And as it increases the shelf life of fruit, it significantly contributes to the reduction of food waste. Over the duration of almost two weeks, it increases the time window during which you can present fruit for sale in the best condition.
As natural plant hormone it is responsible for plant growth, ageing and the accelerated ripening of many fruits and vegetables. Even small quantities of ethylene can cause a significant loss of quality and a reduction of storage on the shelf. This is commercially counterproductive and undesirable.
Tested by the German Institute for Food Technology (Deutsches Institut für Lebensmitteltechnik e.V.) and judged as very good.
Measuring the concentration of ethylene in packaging found that the control package (red) had the highest concentration of ethylene, whilst the FreshGuard-EC package (blue) had the lowest ethylene concentration.
